Dear Mircosoft Spell Check, Are You Out of Your Mind?

This is a little off my normal topics, but it seems that annoying little paper clip must be driving Microsoft’s spell checker insane.  I was just writing an email about how IWPR was cited by the Obama campaign in his report on how his economic plan would benefit working women when I discovered, are you ready for this: SPELL CHECK WANTS TO CHANGE “OBAMA” TO “OSAMA”!  Seriously Microsoft?!?!  I get reminders from you all the time about updating god knows what and you can’t figure out to make THAT change?  This just blows my mind and makes me want to come up with some sort of insane conspiracy theory!  I seriously wrote Microsoft telling them they should get on that.  I guess it actually offends me that they haven’t already.  Wild.  Can you imagine what it must be like to work on the Obama campaign and have spell check trying to change his name to Osama all the time?  Those people must REALLY hate the annoying Microsoft paper clip.  And they must have to proofread like crazy!

In other news, check out the report the Obama campaign released today mentioned earlier.  It’s got some cool stuff for how to help out women and it cites tons of our work.  So exciting!

  • I had to try this out just to make sure we were using the same versions of Word. Sure enough, ‘Obama’ shows up with a red line underneath it, and they suggest to change it to Osama. Haha!

Interesting note: ‘Obama’ also shows up with a red line underneath it as I type this very response, but WordPress spellcheckers must’ve already changed their suggested correction, because it shows ‘Obadiah.’ :)
