I just finished reading this article from New York Magazine on the way that Hillary Clinton’s campaign may be igniting a feminist reawakening. While I am not sure that Clinton is starting a fourth wave of feminism (feels to me more like an extension of Third Wave feminism, but that’s a theoretical debate for another time), as this article suggests, I do think it’s a really excellent recap of the role that gender has played in this election. I also think that the author did a fairly good job of discussing gender and race discrimination without venturing into the oppression olympics territory. Overall, its a well-thought article laying out the ways that women are reconsidering gender in light of the Clinton campaign. Good stuff. Regardless of whether or not Hillary wins (or whether or not you want her to win), I have to say, you love to see the way her campaign has brought many issues of gender discrimination to light.
